International Women's Day '26

Women supporting women: Prudence Davis

In celebration of International Women's Day 2026, we are turning the spotlight on female entrepreneurship, the strength of community, and the courage to create your own working life. We invite 10 women in and give space to their stories.

Meet Prudence, who has founded the reformer and breathwork studio A Space to Breathe, the matcha brand 20Four Matcha, and the wellbeing café A Matcha Space.

Prudence's path into entrepreneurship was intuitive, not strategic. She kept building the things she personally felt were missing. One step at a time, it turned into a business and then into a life.

The thread running through all of it is the same: that health is not about pressure or performance, but about coming home to your body.

What do you do, and what was your journey toward becoming self-employed?

I am a health entrepreneur working at the intersection of movement, breath, presence, and nutrition.

I founded A Space to Breathe, a reformer and breathwork studio, because I longed for a space where health was not about pressure or performance, but about coming home to your body.

Later, I created 20Four Matcha, which grew from the same philosophy, offering calm, stable energy and small daily rituals that support real well-being. I have just welcomed a new addition, A Matcha Space, a wellbeing café in the heart of it all, with the same atmosphere as my studio.

My journey into entrepreneurship was not overly strategic. It was intuitive. I simply kept building the things I personally felt were missing. One step at a time, it turned into a business and then into a life.

What does being self-employed mean to you?

It means freedom, but also responsibility. Freedom to create something that feels honest and aligned with my values, and responsibility for every decision and every person connected to what I build. For me, being self-employed is about integrity. I get to shape the culture, the pace, and the intention behind everything.

What is the best part about running your own business?

The impact. Seeing how people walk into the space stressed or disconnected and leave softer, calmer, more grounded.

Knowing that something we created actually changes how someone feels in their body, that is everything. I also love the creativity of it. I get to combine health, design, community, and storytelling all in one.

Has there been a moment where you truly felt: "this is why I'm doing this"?

Yes, many small moments rather than one big one. After a class, when someone says, "I haven't felt this calm in years," or when a mother tells me it is the first hour she has had to herself in months.

Those quiet, human moments remind me exactly why this work matters. It is never about scale, it is about depth.

What gives you courage or energy when you doubt yourself?

Coming back to my body. Breathing, moving, going offline for a while. I have learned that clarity does not come from pushing harder, it comes from slowing down. And honestly, my children ground me a lot.

They remind me what actually matters and why I want to build something meaningful and sustainable.

How do you experience community or support from other women in your working life?

Community with other women has been essential. Being self-employed can feel lonely, but sharing experiences, challenges, and knowledge with other women who are building their own paths can be so empowering.

There is something very powerful about women supporting women, less competition and more collaboration. It feels softer, but also stronger.

Women supporting women

SÆTTER is a company founded and run by women, built on community and the belief that we are stronger when we support one another.

Throughout March 2026, we invite a group of female entrepreneurs, designers, and makers into our universe. Through editorial stories and a curated pop-up on saetter.dk, we share one selected object from each woman alongside her story, giving space to different perspectives on female entrepreneurship.

To us, women supporting women is about saying each other's names out loud, sharing opportunities, and making space for more voices. Happy International Women's Day from SÆTTER.
